maltose 's dreams are becoming reality.
PhD in CS, computational biology

Hello all,

I have been reading posts for a few weeks and decided to take the plunge into posting on the forums. I am seeking admittance into a PhD program for CS in autumn 2005 as I am currently finishing my masters at the University of Washington-Tacoma. I took the GRE (general test) in Nov and received the following score:

V: 600
Q:800
A:4.5

I believe I could have done better in the Verbal and Analytical Writing but I took the test cold without studying and was very pleased with my quant score. My GPA is 3.84/4 and my undergrad GPA in physics at U Wash Seattle was 3.77. I have a few research projects I have worked on and good LOR. I am applying to the following schools:

(in alphabetical order)

Columbia U
U British Columbia
UC-Davis
UC-Irvine
UC-Santa Cruz
UC-Santa Barbara
University of Washington CSE
SUNY-Buffalo
Virginia Tech

I am looking at specializing in computational biology and high-performance computing. I have not heard back from any schools yet and I am eagerly waiting.

I am pleased to be part of the Test Magic Forum and look forward to talking to all of you!
