In my opinion, Yes ! its not of GMAT quality. I am not saying its not good according to English grammar but GMAT exam tests only certain set of rules and hence can be mastered by identifying the common line running through most of the problem. For e.g. in SC, being is almost always wrong in GMAT but in KAPLAN I came across many SCs where it was just the perfect answer. GMAT has , most of the times (excpet most difficult one), more than one errors in SC that can help to identify the right answer but KAPLAN can very well give you a SC where the only difference is between Although and Though!!!

RCs in KAPLAN are very abstract and the language used is difficult to relate to while reading the passage. Plus they use lot of unconventional words, which makes it even more difficult to comprehend. Furthermore, at ttimes the correct answer requires lot of analysis and reading between the lines , which is a suicide for the real GMAT test!
