Ricardinho is on the way!
I was accepted into the NYU MA Econ program last year, but chose to go to UPF's MA instead. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. The MA at NYU, while the most technical of all US MAs, is still less technical than the best European/Canadian programs, where you can take PhD level courses.

2. If you want to go and work in the private sector after the degree, NYU would be a wonderful choice. But if you would like to continue on with a PhD, the placement of NYU MAs in the best econ PhD programs is rather weak (I think the FAQ section of the website has more detailed info).

3. The MA courses are NOT taught by the best professors at NYU.

My advice would be:

baylorbr: If you would like to do a PhD in a top Econ department, try to take as many maths courses in the Maths department at NYU as they would let you.

jpd135: Look into other MA programs outside of the US (UBC, Toronto, Western Ontario, LSE, Oxbridge, UPF).
