Hey agm,
To get into grad school does not solely depend on your GPA and GRE score(BTW,1400 is a wonderful score, Congratulations!).
First off, you need to tell us what your major is and what you intend to take as your major field of your graduate study.
As a student in social science, I know the strength of an application depends on five criteria as followed:
1)GPA;
2)Recommendation letter;
3)GRE;
4)Writing sample;
5)Personal statement;
For me, the annual university ranking isn't that important. In so-called "Tier 2" universities, there are a lot of excellent professors/researchers from which you can really learn a lot and with whom you may be able to develop a truly meaningful relationship. By contrast, in so-called "Tier 1" universities, it's always difficult to catch and talk to those professors. They are busy, and some students don't even get a chance to have a deep conversation with them
