197 The material progress and well-being of one country are necessarily connected to the material progress and well-being of all other countries.
The very concept of Globalisation and Liberalisation reveals that the material progress and well being of a country are connected to the material progress and well being of all the other countries. Today the repercussions of an economic disaster or a natural calamity in one part of the world can be felt all around the globe. Likewise todays world we discuss problems as 'Global Problems' instead of addressing them as problems of individual countries. Technological advances in communication, transportation and science have made our world so small. We may soon witness the concept of Global Village which is fast emerging now.
Coming to material progress ,no country is self sufficient in its natural resources which makes it necessary for it to depend on the others. The very fact that each and every country has imports and exports amounting to millions of dollars support this fact. We have seen countries like India which are abundant in natural resources importing technology from technically advanced countries like Japan and the U.S.A. Also countries like the U.S.A. which have plenty of natural resources import man power from the developing countires like India and the China. For example, more than about 25% (app) of the employees of IBM and Microsoft are Indians.Needless, to address about the fact that all the countries in the world depend on The Middle Eastern Countries of Asia for their Oil and Petroleum product requirements. We can still remember the repercussions the Gulf War had on the rest of the world in 1992.
Regarding the well being of the countries, today we cannot say that many problems like Global Warming and AIDS are only the burden of individual countries. It has become a responsibility of each and every country to contribute towards the same. We have seen research teams coming together to fight these problems, these research teams consist of experts from many countries. The emphasis is not on the question as to which country has contributed more number of experts to the research team, but the importance lies in the fact that how these research teams are doing in terms of tackling the problem. We have the world body, The U.N.O. of which almost every country is a member. The U.N.O. has made its presence felt in almost every part of the world and we have seen many a times, The U.N.O. offering a helping hand in terms of financial, material & man power aid to countries in the time of natural calamities and crisis. May it be the famine in Somalia and other African countries or may it be an earthquake in any other country.
Further, most of the deleterious consequences of some horrified acts of terrorism and the network of drug trafficking are not confined to any particular geographical and these effects are not limited to the boundaries of individual countries. It is for the world as a one united body which should fight against all these evils and make the world a more comortable, stable and a safer place to live. Nuclear radiations also donot recognise physical boundaries, thereby no country can act to its own whims and fancies.
However, i would like to take an exception only insofar to state that some factors like the population of a country, a part of its culture and geographical climate are isolated with the world and doesnot depend on other countries to a larger extent.
To conclude, it is evident from a number of facts in many areas like business, economy, health..etc that the material progress and well being of a country are by and large connected to the material progress and well-being of other countries. Countries of the world inturn are trying to derive the Synergetic effect wherein the output of the whole is greater than the sum of outputs of the parts.
