From everything I have read, re-taking the GMAT less than 4 times should not hurt your chances as schools will only count your best score. If you think you can take the test within a week, and score well, go for it. However, if you do not think you are going to do well, than you are just wasting your money. At the very least, I would take the PowerPrep test at least once to gaugue where you are. It's free and you got nothing to lose except a few hours.
