Recently I ran into this listening question.

This is I heard:

Man: According to the catalogue, the school is closed next Monday for a holiday
Woman: Then we don't have class on Monday. The catalogue couldn't be wrong.

And this is the question: What had the woman assumed?

a. The catalogue was wrong
b. They would have class on Monday
c. The holiday had been canceled.
d. The school would not be opened on Monday

Without thinking, I jumped to the choice D because it is a CORRECT fact. However, it turned out I was wrong. The question doesn't ask about a fact. It ask about what the woman HAD ASSUMED. From the talk, we can tell that she HAD ASSUMED that they would have class on Monday. b would be the correct answer.
