GRE lost my scores!
I took the test on March 19th of this year. While away on vacation last week, I receive a message from ETS stating that there were technical difficulties and my test was cancelled in full.
I just got back from vacation so I called them back today. They said there is 0% chance of them finding my scores because it was a computer crash that happened during the test. They said they had tried to get the information about 5 times over the past 2 weeks to no avail.
The graduate school I am going to has already conditionally accepted me pending GRE scores - which are more of a formality at this school.
I have studied on and off for this test since I was conditionally accepted in October of 2007. I also took off at least a day from work for the actual test, and countless other days off to study (I work as an indep. contractor). They said they can offer a voucher for the exam retake as well as transportation costs to and from the testing center and a refund on the test. I still think this is unacceptable and a disgrace of a company to "lose" my test scores and cancel the test without my permission. The stress and time put into the test are far more valuable than a voucher and a refund. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE THIS TEST AGAIN AS I HAD A GOOD SCORE AND WANT IT KEPT THAT WAY! It is a waste of time for me to take this test AGAIN, and on their terms.
I guess I am even wondering whether or not this is a case for a lawyer to be involved? I called my school and have not yet received a response. I am hoping they will just say for me to not take the test and everything is over. However, I think that is a low probability and its more likely I will have to suck it up and take this test again. I am already starting graduate school later this month (at least some of the pre-requisties I need), so the test would need to be taken prior to this happenning. Also, I planned on working a ton (I'm a nurse who contracts to hopitals, so I scheduled myself for 48-0 hours a week so I wouldn't have to work as much during my summer classes). So how am I supposed to study for this and get it out of the way before classes begin? Had I known this was a problem, I would have taken stuff to study with me on the beach so I could take it this week again. Not only is this making it suck to come back to reality after vacation, it also ruined vacation, as I specifically scheduled the original test so I could relax this month.
Anyone think this is even worthy of a lawsuit?
