USCIS accepted H1B petitions during the first 5 business days of April, and hence April 7th was the last day to file petitions. They have now started initial data entry for all the petitions. Then they will perform the random selection process for the "20000" cap for "US Masters" degree or higher. Unsuccessful candidates from this pool will be clubbed with the "general" category which has a cap of 65000. So this will be the second random selection process.
The bottom line is we all have to wait for the USCIS update on when they will perform the random selection process. Last year it was done on the 12th April.
