The desire of corporations to maximize profits creates conflict with the general welf

analysis of an issue ls rate

The goal of all businesses is to make money. Whether a nation, a large corporation or a small family, everyone thrives to increase the balance between their earnings and expenditures. In short, maximise profits.

According to me, the welfare of a nation is directly reflected in the purchase power of its people. During the last few years a lot of developing nations have seen a surge in their purchase power. One of the most common names that I can recall are India and China. With multinationals flocking to open their offices in these countries, there are massive job oppurtunities. So does this help the nation's welfare ? We shall see.

With the advent of new jobs in large corporations comes the requirement of expertise in the associated field. This motivates people to enroll for better and higher education, the key step in the development of nation. Quite obviously the salaries are bound to increase and as always it would either be invested or spent. Both the choices eventually lead to the same result. The money flows back into the economy through banks, stocks, funds to create more profits, more corporations and more jobs with increased salaries. to

The other major effect that higher salaries have are increase in demand. People want more and better stuff. The consumer is developing a taste and the manufacturers are more than ready to give in. The same people that were earlier happy with their neighbouring grocery store now with the money want more choices. The consumer has become the king. They want to reach the nearest supervalue store to woo themselves with all the possible choices. (Buying a pack of cereal can take close to ten minutes if one decides to go through the complete aisle). From manufactuing to marketing to sales everyone wants to woo the customer. All for one sole purpose, increase the profit.

What started with a single multinational has now lead to a chain reaction, creating more industries with fierce competition in the name of consumerism, creating better education system to satisfy the growing demands and most importantly increase the cash flow in the economy which leads to the betterment of the nation.
