You say "few applicants will have a degree in finance as well", did you double major or did you actually get two degrees? At most, they may look at the fact that you did two degrees in the span of one, and did well. I doubt the finance helps much, though. I majored in economics, minored in math, and have taken the finance specialization (which included three Ph.D level courses). But I don't think it helped much last year.
Unfortunately, I highly doubt economics Ph.D programs would care too much if someone had a second major at the undergraduate level in a field of economics. If you've taken graduate courses, however, I think that may add some weight to it, but I could get back to you on that when I see how my application does in the fall.
