I personally find that taking a very polarized side on an issue is easier to write about than qualifying both sides. Its seems easier to focus on your key points so that you don't digress while lambasting the other side's position. Good examples to use in general are controversies in the media, history, religion, or controversial people of their times. e.g., Martin Luther, Galileo, Socrates, Einstein/Atomic bomb blah blah. Rode-wade, The Davinci code, w/e. Anything newsworthy is generally a good source of ideas.
