Pls grade - When a leader leads his country to great success

When a leader leads his country to great success, this leader should be forgiven for any acts of corruption he may have commited during his office.

Whose a leader ? What sets him apart from the crowd ? If we answer these questions in our minds I am sure most of us would disagree with the author's statement above.
A leader is essentially a motivator. And the leader of a country is not just the representative of that country, he is also the person who drives the entire nation to follow him, and have faith in his decisions. In short the relationship between a leader and a follower ( a nation in our case) is that of trust. Its our faith in the leader that makes a republican beat a democrat or vice versa. Its the faith and trust that if something goes wrong we can trust our leader to take a wise and rational decision. But what happens when the leader of the nation himself is corrupt ?
The first emotion to strike is that of being cheated. And once our minds start rationalizing, we understand that irrespective of his position the leader is also serving a nation just like we do.And in all fairness, the rules that apply to us should also apply to him. If the very people who are supposed to promote law and order in the country are corrupt in their offices then who would guard the guards ? Eventually people would not just loose their faith in the government they loose the faith in the entire system. Which in turn would be a disgrace for not only the leader and his party but the entire nation. Do we need to be reminded of the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewniskey episode ?
To sum it, truth and justice must prevail irrespective of a person's position in the society.
