2. Pitch::sound
Color :: light

Pitch is a phemenon of Sound (it depends on the frequency of sound, or the highness/lowness of sound)

Colour is a phenomenon of Light (it depends on the frequence/wavelegth of light...think of the light spectrum with ROYGBIV if that helps)

1. Varnish::Wood (definitely a little tricky seeing there are two tempting choices)
a) ------
b) ------
c) wax :: linoleum
d) Burnish :: Metal
e) ------

Now it's hard to determine whether the first word is used as a Noun or a Verb. Since it's hard to distinguish wax and burnish in their verb form, let's look at the noun form. A varnish is applied to wood to give it an attrative appearance; just as wax is applied to linoleum to give it an attractive appearance. You can't say that a burnish is applied to metal to give it a lusterous appearance. Burnish by definition is the action of rubbing to make something shiny; the noun form of burnish meaning luster.
