Hypothetical Question Regarding Admit
All,
Just have a hypothetical question regarding my chances of admit into a Phd Program in Econ (Hypothetical because I am making an assumption for the Calc III and LA Grades)
Profile:
UG GPA: 3.75 Econ/3.50 Overall (Small Liberal Arts College)
(I got mostly A's in my econ courses)
Math Courses: Calc I (B); Calc II (A); I took calc III and Linear Algebra but got bad grades due to some other issues.
Research Experience: RA for a semester
Grad GPA (Econ MA): 3.70
Got mostly A's and a couple of B's in the core classes. Took the PhD level metrics class (B+)
Teaching Experience: Taught a principles Level Course.
Work experience: Currently work as an analyst for a small research company
I plan on retaking Calc III, Linear Algebra and a course on optimization over the next year and plan on applying for 2010 admit.
Here comes the hypothetical Part: Assuming I get A's in the math courses and Ace the GRE Quant, What do you think my chances are for admits in the 20-50 range? My interests right now lie in applied micro. I was looking at schools like USC, CalTech, Wash U, Penn St, U 0f WA and VAtech, UC Irvine. Do these seem reasonable?
Thanks in advance
