What are my chances at Oxford, Cambridge, and LSE? I would be content with starting with a Masters program. What can I do to optimize my chances? Would volunteer work help? Also, would being of Bengali decent help my chances any? Thanks!
If you're just applying to a masters, you should be good. I mean if you aren't aware of this, then I should point out that those programs are money making machines for those institutions since you're a foreign student. If you've got the dough, they're happy to let you in. As for if this will actually help you get into a US school for a PhD...that may not be right. But for a terminals master's, you're good.
