I don't know about electrical engineering, but I know for computer science it usually doesn't matter regarding employment unless you want to get a PhD or do other research-related work later on. That's why most people do a non-thesis option with MS programs.
Similarly, the MEng program at Cornell is treated by employers just like a MS degree.
