I think the NDSC will give you a good flavor of what to expect. But you can get the same by talking to people in the program that you are admitted to.
The conference is good for people who are applying - networking and info gathering.
Attending the whole conference - will be good if there are specific sessions that you are interested in. Some of the PDWs might also be of interest.
