Question GRE and Undergrad Transfer to UCLA or Berkeley

As someone with an AA from a California community college trying to transfer to UCLA or Berkeley, do you think my chances will improve if I take the GRE. I plan to go for a PhD in econ and transferring to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics.

Since I will note this on my application essay and since I never had to take the SAT, do you think taking the GRE and scoring well especially on the Quantitative section would improve my chances to get into these institutions.

My GPA is 3.6, but I have all As when it comes to the Math (college algebra, statistics, calc 1, 2) and Economics courses (econ 1 and 2).

What dropped my GPA was Bs on Poli1, Human Sexuality, History. No Cs.

Thank you,
