IMHO, top strategy departments are:
Duke,
Wharton,
Harvard,
MIT,
Michigan,
U Toronto,
Stanford (in engineering school, oddly enough)

decent/great departments are:
Illinois,
Maryland,
Purdue,
UT Austin,
Minnesota
etc...

Berkeley, UCLA, are still "name brand," but have slowed down quite a bit as their top stars are near retirement age (Williamson, Teece at Cal, Rumelt at UCLA). Still manage to place their students in good departments, but publication counts are way down compared to before.
hey was just wondering about MIT Sloan's strategic management program: they only have a minor in business. what major do you recommend for having the greatest exposure to strategy? Eventually organization studies or entrepreneurship? Areas of Study - MIT Sloan PhD Program

thanks

PS: this ranking here pretty much reflects the research performance: http://som.utdallas.edu/top100Rankin...anking.php?t=w
