Dear TMers (my 1st post)
As I have decided to apply for PhD programs in Econ this coming Fall, I need your help to evaluate my profile and give your thoughtful/wise advice. My interest of research is Economic Development.
Undergrad. School: Unranked public university
Major: Finance & Econ
GPA: 3.4/4.0
Grad. School: MA Econ @ Vanderbilt
GPA: 3.8/4.0
GRE: Q 720 (retaking soon)
Research experience: no official RA position - honors papers and MA thesis this year (my 2nd year)
TA experience: mostly tutoring
Math (my weakness): Calc 1-2 (A), linear algebra (A), Math for Econ PhD (taking in the fall)
Econ courses: Inter. Micro/Macro (A-/A), Stat/Econ (A/A-) and bunch of electives (mostly As and A-s)
Great undergrad
LORs, hopeful to get 2 strong
LORs from faculty here (Chicago, Vanderbilt, Emory)
What do you guys think? Any advice before I apply this fall? What schools do I really have a chance to be admitted with funding? Thanks
