You should read the instructions on the cover of the test booklet carefully.
For giving a correct answer you must read each question very carefully.
You need not to spend too much time on a single passage or question if you do so you can’t pace yourself.
You should be alert on the announcement on each type of test.
You must have a best quality of pencil and eraser, do not use a mechanical pencil or ink pen.
It is a best way to get much score that answer the easy questions first, then go back and answer difficult ones.

Your scores on the multiple-choice tests are based on the number of questions you answer correctly so you must answer every question. There are no negative marks or penalty for guessing or wrong answer.
Recheck your work if you complete the test before the actual time.
Do not make your answer sheet smudge, answer clear and fresh.
Mark the each oval gently on the test. Always keep in mind that you must complete the essay. If your time is finished then after if you got chance then try to complete it.

I feel like the best investment for the ACT is to actually buy the official ACT book. I used it religiously and greatly improved my scores in one try. Take the diagnostic test cold like it says and then focus on what you really need to improve. Then go online to the official website and review with their free material. After that go to the review material in the actual book . This is the best strategy I have found/ used .
