The New ACT Online Prep
After several threads on the Collegeboard's Online Course (which can be read in the SAT forum) it got me thinking: is ACT ever going to create an online course for its test?
The newest battle on the test-prep front is how many interactive and "teen-centered" types of prep companies can create - most notably the Princeton Review and Kaplan. However, it seems ACT has now created its own ACT online review course. Some of the highlights: - ACT Online Prep includes two complete practice tests featuring authentic ACT test questions with complete answer explanations. These are real ACT test questions, taken from retired ACT test forms. - ACT Online Prep also includes a practice prompt for the optional ACT Writing Test. You can write your essay under timed or untimed conditions, then submit it for real-time scoring. You'll receive a score in seconds! -Log in to ACT Online Prep 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere you have Internet access! All of this and more can be gotten for the reasonable price of: $19.95 - - quite a drastic difference between their other competitior who supposedly claim their $60 price tag as "reasonable". This program will likely find a place in the heart of people who don't seem to be able to access some of the most important ACT bibles ("The Real ACT Prep Guide", Barrons,...) and most importantly for those who seem to have exhausted all of their materials' practice tests. Will it raise my score drastically? Probably Not, but it will introduce new test-takers to the test and give them advice on what to do before the time is too late - and most importantly its reasonably priced, so most people should be able to afford it. For those who have taken the ACT already, will probably benefit from the extra practice tests and review questions from areas of weakness. Disclaimer: The ACT Online Prep is not an alternative to the College Board's Online Course, as the SAT and ACT are two totally different tests. I haven't purchased the course yet, but will likely soon, so please take my personal comments with a grain of salt as I haven't physically seen the course - this post has been made to inform you that there is another option out there. ![]()
