U Chicago or U Minn
Hi everyone,
I got in UChicago and U of Minnesota for master degree in Computer Science but I havent decided which one yet. Could you give me some advices (please take everything into consideration: reputation, employment during/after school, location, tuition, etc) Thanks! |

I can tell you that in terms of reputation, UMinn is better than UChicago. Since I knew that UMinn ranked the third among all national univerisites. While Berkerly and UMich ranked the first and second respectively.

Thank you for your input. But by national universities do you mean public schools? I think Madison is also ranked higher than UMinn. I dont know about CS reputation, but in general people heard of UChicago more than UMinn I believe.
I will have to make my decision soon. Everybody please gives me some pieces of advice   |

Well. It depends on where do you want to work. FYI, I graduated from madison.
If you are planning on going into finance, financial software or looking for financial employment after graduation. University of Chicago is the place to be. If you are going to west coast, i.e. silicon valley, they are about the same. + and - UChi you can have great food and bar, clubs and ppl (good for your social skill) UMinn is more acadamic but cold so you won't go out and will stare at the computer a lot more (good for your linux and php skill) However, since it's freezing in UM, there tends to be more college type bars and also, make sure you like pizza. |
