Hi ,

Got into Gatech......

I have recieved an aid package of

12k

Is this enough considering I need to pay 500$ per semester as tution fees extra.

Profile-:

GPA 3.7
GRE 1490
TOEFL 281

2 publications -: in DATE and IEEE repectively.

Work experience -: 1 year

Univ -: IIT Bombay

Also -:

Reject from UCLA.

Other univs

UCSD , Umich, TAMU.

Hi,
Thanks... Yes I have recieved an official mail regarding my admit. Applied by around 20th Jan.

I am into VLSI CAD with work & research exp in the relavent field.

Though I am not too gung ho about the aid offered. I am not too sure that with this amount I would be able to fund my education.

I cannot afford to spend even say 100$ per month on my education by myself.

First, congrats on GT.

I know of two people at my school (UF) that received offers from GT. Both got your 12k stipend for TA and one of the two got an extra 5k fellowship. I believe both are turning it down bc they don't want to live in Atlanta and they received better offers elsewhere.

Honestly, 12k is not a large amount for ECE. If you want to go there I would push for that extra 5k that others are receiving.

Yeah, that number is low for Tech. You can live on that in Atlanta, though, but you'll probably need to get some extra money in the summer.

jimuf, better offers I understand, but what don't they like about Atlanta? UF, isn't that florida?

Atlanta has great weather, but GT is in the middle of the ghetto.

I remember Johns Hopkins being right next to a bad neighborhood, but have no idea of Gatech...
