Admits and Rejects
Hi everyone. I am new to this forum. I have got admits for MS in EE Fall 2005 in NJIT and FIT
 . Rejected by Penn State ....  Awaiting decisions from Purdue and UIUC among a few others too..........My GRE is 770(Q),680(V),4.5(AW)........TOEFL=293(Essay=6.0). ....Penn state rejection has really got me depressed............ I wasn't expecting a rejection from Penn State.....Maybe my lack of research papers and work ex was the reason......... other than that I have got almost everything right.........please tell me if I aimed too high....  I have got 72% in my undergrad being ranked 8th in a class of 64. My SOP is outatanding, believe me I have got valid reasons for saying so, and my recos were solid too..........Looking forward to hearing from u guys. |

Hi, I also applied to Penn State for MS EE Fall 2005. Haven't heard anything yet. When did you hear about your rejection, was it by email? Did you apply around first week of December like I did? Sorry man, for your reject. I am also afraid of getting that rejection letter sometime now. Penn State is really around the top of my list. My GRE: 800Q+720V+6.0AW, TOEFL:293, TWE:5.0. I don't have any research papers either, got 1 yr teaching experience though, my CGPA: 3.88/4, rank:8/139. SoP looks good, so do LoRs. Where else did you apply? I have got one unofficial admit decision from USC, but no word about aid.

yes the decision was conveyed by e-mail.....I applied around the middle of dec.......I am awaiting decisions from Purdue and UIUC.......Hey Jerrymouse ur profile is excellent.....Could u post the names of all the universities u applied to? are u an international applicant? if so from which country? looking forward to hearing from u...............

I am international from Bangladesh. So far the status is:
Admits: USC (unoffficial - no word about aid) Rejects: UC Berkeley Waiting: Stanford, Penn State, Purdue, UIUC, UBC (Canada), CalTech, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech I am also eagerly awaiting decisions from Stan, PSU, Purdue, UIUC - who say their decisions should be out around this time. But I got the notion that they'll keep us waiting more than that. |

Thanks Dhruv, my nerves are tensed as hell, trying to cool off with this forum
 . USC I am sure would be a great place to go, but u know getting funds is soooo competitive... Thanks anyway. And Manas u have a decent enough profile to get more admits, NJIT, FIT are great by the way. Don't let yourself down with the rejections. I am mentally prepared to accept rejects as good as to accept admits . What could we do? I guess it's not only a show of merits, but a lot of things also depend on luck (getting the attention of the profs, availability of funding, and so on). I guess that's not true only for people who are 110% flawless - well, their number isn't so large, so we - ppl with major and minor flaws (no offence, flawless guys  )- must still hang on and hope for the best to happen. |

hey Jerry and Dhruv, Thanks for the pep talk.......I know I have still got a few decisions to come in.....and I am going to make it....to a top univ.......in fact all of us are......
