Down and out at STANFORD!!!

Today i received an e-mail from Stanford University, the e-mail was as follows:

Dear Applicant,

The MSCS Admissions Committee has reviewed your application for
admission for Fall 2005-06 to the Masters program in the Computer
Science Department. I am sorry to tell you that the committee did not
recommend you for admission. The number of applicants far exceeds
the number of those whom we can admit, which makes the admissions
process a difficult and painstaking one. As a result, many strong
candidates must be turned down.

So my admits and rejects till now are as follows:

Admits:
1> UPENN
2> USC

Rejects:
1> NCSU
2> STANFORD .

In the e-mail they may say that they are sorry to tell you this BUT I do not believe them, my hunch say that they are lying.

Don't give up man (or woman)! I've been rejected by more than 20 univs in my application history (applying since 2002-2003)

gstergia - i admire your perseverance! it takes a lot of strength to keep applying year after year when you keep getting rejected.

Even I got the same mail from Stanford this morning. I'm sure they're not sorry, but atleast they say so. I'm not sure whether I like that or not! Last year I applied to a program in NUS and they rejected me. The rejection email went somethign like this -

"
You have been denied admission to our xxxx program. Please do not contact us any further regarding you application. We will not entertain such emails.

xxxx
"

Man, did I feel bad about it or what... more so, I was very confident I'll get into the program. But now, I'm happy they rejected me Because if they had offered me an admission I just might have ended up going there and that would have been a disaster. I later found out from another guy who was offered admission there that, during the telephonic interview when I was asked what my future plans are, I 'should have' said that I intend to stay back and work in Singapore. Yuck... I've never felt more dislike towards any university as what I felt for NUS when I heard that!!!

I did not say that I was rejected by all univs . I got in my preferable major for PhD with full financial aid but I resigned a year later and then applied to some schools for different major and I got in one school I liked (while I was rejected by other schools I liked also) and now I'm applying fro further studies (1 reject, 2 admit so far).

Oops..sorry to hear about the Stanfy reject Colin...
But you shouldn't worry because you have an admit from UPenn!
Which top schools are you still waiting for?

you don't need 'em... your admits thus far are very impressive! besides that, I'm sure something better than stanford will come along soon. it happened to me this week, rejected by S and then accepted by H, so it's possible - keep us posted when you get into MIT

Sorry about the reject, Colin. Reject from Stanford is really a big shocker!!! Anyways, congrats on the two other admits u got - they're simply 'BOSSSS' . I also got one admit so far from USC MSEE, with no word about aid. Waiting for Stanford EE to give their decision by March 14, that's Monday next. Probably I'll see that kind of reject letter in my mailbox by then. Anyone here for Stanford EE also? Heard anything yet?

but with UPenn and USC you should'nt bother..

but I know every reject hurts, but when you are down it also measn that good news is just around the corner.
