Maryland College Park
Hello
I have been reading this great forum for a while and decided to join this pleasant community. I am a future graduate student in Physics Phd. My admission record so far: Maryland College Park  Full aid 14800+TW STONY Brook (Full aid) 14500+TW  University of Rochester (Full aid) 15800+TW  Rutgers (waitlisted)  Rejects: Cornell MIT UIUC Haven't heard: Berkeley  My intention is to go to Maryland because the quality of research is really promising. Does any of you have personal experience what this university is like for a graduate student? I know they have excellent rankings and outstanding faculty in several disciplines, but I heard worrying rumors about campus safety and other issues. I would greatly appreciate if you could share your impressions about this university. |

Hello! You make me feel even better; thank you for all the congratulations. I don't have the same magnificent profile that many of you in this forum, my weakest point is my general GRE and the reason that I didn't have time to prepare for it. Here it comes:
Applicant for Eastern Europe, a very good university .GRE: Q: 800, V: 450:o GRE Subject: 900 (90 percentile) TOEFL: 270 GPA: 3.8 I have master's with many many advanced courses: Measure theory, group representations, discrete mathematics, topology,differential geometry, complex analysis. I don't mention the physics courses becouse nobody would understand. 1.5 year of theoretical research. I am currently in the USA so I got recommendations from a well known US faculty member (I think this can help a lot). Maryland rocks! Last edited by Peter137 : 03-12-2005 at 02:56 PM. |

Not Russia, a bit closer to the West.
