www.boston.com has lots of info, and free access to the Boston Globe, the local newspaper. For touristy stuff I imagine your best bet would be thumbing through a Let's Go, Lonely Planet or Fodor's guide in a bookstore, or buying one if you are planning on actually coming. Boston is a very, very walkable city - you can see most of it in a single day, on foot. Of course, to go in everywhere and explore every nook and cranny takes much longer. But you can have lots of fun just walking around aimlessly. Also take a look at http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destinat...ston/index.htm ... doing websearches for info will also help. You can also read about it on BU, Harvard, MIT webpages I would assume? In terms of nightlife, there's lots of it all over. Plenty of bars downtown. Clusters of clubs by Fenway Park on Landsdowne St (about a ten minute walk from BU), bars and clubs in cambridge, huge student populations and dives in Allston, Brighton, Somerville. The biggest drawback about Boston for me is the fact that everything closes down so early. Clubs and bars have to close, by a centuries-old law, at 2am, and the subway (the "T") stops running at 12:30am. Of course, house parties etc. go on much later. But still, it's obnoxious that everything closes so early. If you have any particular questions, feel free to ask me, I've been living here for three years now ![]() |
