Do you think they would start making offers without evaluating all of them? I had to meet the 31/02 deadline so I guess this is not the same system with UK (first come first served) but rather like the US system where first they sum up all applications and then pick.

Re: U of Toronto is sending out accepts for MA - econ (regular)
I asked about my chances and posted my profile (in another forum; yes, I knw but you also know I'm 100% faithful, "to the bone" TMian!)
"I think your chances of admissions are VERY high... i'd really be surprised if you don't get accepted. You're qualifications are typically much more than what a Canadian student entering the program will require. From my understanding, as an undergraduate student myself planning to apply to U of T's Doctoral Stream MA next year, is that one needs the advanced courses in micro/macro (if you have some intermediate-advanced metrics - very good) and a fair amount of math. And in general, Canadian schools don't seem to be so completely random in their acceptance/rejection process. If you can get accepted to UBC or McMaster (requiring at least an A- average), you will likely get an admit to U of T. (The math is the clincher for the U of T doctoral stream - which you clearly have)" This gives me some hope. ![]()

Re: U of Toronto is sending out accepts for MA - econ (regular)
I got almos the same e-mail from Queen's MA Econ:
"We have not yet made a decision on your application, but you will be notified by email and letter as soon as we have." I guess I have to wait. I hope at least I'm waiting for an admit.

Re: U of Toronto is sending out accepts for MA - econ (regular)
I just figured out that U of Toronto MA Econ Doctoral Stream has the same structure with LSE MResearch Track 1.
I think that since my application for MSc EME was rejected, so would be for MResearch Track 1, right? Update: Ouf! Afterall LSE MResearch Econ Track 1 is a two-years program! Only the first year has the same structure with Toronto Doc MA!What a relief! I would not like to think that I had a chance for this Masters in LSE and I did not apply. ![]()

Re: U of Toronto is sending out accepts for MA - econ (regular)
as far as I am concerned, at least for a Master's, it doesn't matter how you get in, as long as you are in. I mean, sure there's stupid pride, but if it is the difference between top 10 and top 50 would you let pride get in the way....yeah right.
Now, if waitlist meant no funding for a Phd, that's a different ball of wax, but all things being equal, who cares as long as you think you fit in there. If you are going to place that waitlisted you because you don't fit in well and can't find a Phd advisor, again, something to consider, but that's for you to decide AFTER they let you in. Related to admission, I made a post in the university admissions: graduate forum about rejecting a school after you accept, if anyone wants to mosey on over and give me some input I would be greatly appreciative. |

Re: U of Toronto is sending out accepts for MA - econ (regular)
Do you think I jeoparpize anything if I send an e-mail to Toronto asking if they have a decision for my application? The last time I did was March 22 and they told me that they do not have yet a decision for my application.
