Dear friends,

I received an email from Utah advising me to check my application status. I found there a message saying I have been admitted with TA ship giving me $15k/year.

Since I have already an admit from UNC-CHapel Hill, I have decided to decline this offer. I hope this decision is wise.

But seriously, Utah is one of the most conservative states with lots of religious fundamentalists. Isn't it one of those states where evolution theory must not be taught at school? Anyway, this is not a political forum, so to get back to the original question: Utah is certainly a good school, but UNC is ranked significantly better by USNews.

But what do the others think?
How do the schools compare?

yeah,i agree with florian(about UNC-chapel hill being a better CS dept. than Utah).
The TAship might be the only reason to consider Utah over UNC.are you getting any aid from chapel hill?
also,are you interested in Computer Graphics? thought so,since both these schools are well-known in that area.

Congratulations! UNC and Utah are both great if you are interested in Graphics, and UNC is most probably the best in US. So UNC might be the better choice

. Utah was my #1 university but i didnt make it

@turing: yes, i am getting full assistantship from unc also.

@turing and skremon: My area of interest is broadly Distributed computing and peer-to-peer systems.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

UNC-CH is #1 in Computer Graphics.
In distributed computing etc i think Utah and UNC will be on the same level.
