Re: PSU or USC? Your Advice Needed!!
Let me put it this way:
If you want a great Job , great research facilities as well as great weather, then go to USC. If you want anything else then go to PSU. But, in the end the decision is yours. We are here just to express our views. |

THEBESTUCANGET:
Thanks a lot for your warm answers, man! I'm now facing the dilemma that on one hand I surely love the pros of USC (i.e. weather, job opportunity, facility, etc.), yet I don't have U.S. citizenship nor P.R., and I wonder that's gonna effect my chances of getting jobs @US after masters. And if this is the situation, it would force me to pursue for phds; on the other hand, if I'm to go for a phd, I think PSU is a better choice, and another consideration is that my girlfriend is going to HLS this fall, and...PSU is surely lots closer to Harvard than USC! Well, the good news is the deadline of reply that PSU gave me is the end of May, which makes me able to wait for other prospective schools without worrying the April 15 issue... Best of luck to all of us! ![]() |

Again, talking about CS jobs, it's nothing other than programming, which you can easily get with a BS in India. Quote:
Sorry if the info that I am giving is rude, but these are the facts. I have, infact, confirmed the details with many people at USC (Also with IIT-ians doing PhD at USC). |

Although USC might have a slight edge on the weather front, I'd recommend PSU. Are you still waiting to hear from any other school?

Full heart of thanks to Anand & gforce!
Anand: yes, I'm from Taiwan and I'm awared of the hard situation of getting jobs w/o PR, also, I'm interested in Computer Hardware, Architecture, VLSI design, or EDA...not software programming, so I guess I'll have to work hard on the double! gforce: yes, I'm still waiting for other schools' decisions, and I surely hope I can get some more good news. Yet I'm thinking they might not respond before April 15, so I started the discussion thread in advance.Guys on the TestMagic forum are the greatest! Cheers! And hope you all get in @ your dream schools! ![]() |

Re: PSU or USC? Your Advice Needed!!
silfox, if you are going to PSU, let me know. I am quite decided about PSU, only waiting for VaTech.
Anand, I can't afford to go to Stanford or GaTech, I just can't take the financial risk involved, anything can happen to me in the first year. So, PSU it is for me. |

Re: PSU or USC? Your Advice Needed!!
Dear jerrymouse,
It would be wonderful for PSU to have a distinguished student like you! And if my finish result turn out to be PSU, I will definitely let you know! In the meantime, wish me luck! Best Regards, |
