nyimaceji
Hi,this is my first time here, and I really love this place. :D I have a friend, now studying chinese literature in China, and planning to apply for MA or PhD of Chinese literature in the us next year. But he will not plan to take GRE. Yes with toefl. Which University doesn't require GRE score yet? Is it more difficult to apply for MA than PHD for international students? Is it impossible to get any financial aid without GRE? Thanks for reading and your kind reply. yours, nyimaceji:grad:
Madeleine
Hello! Is it more difficult to apply for MA than PHD for international students? AFAIK, when you apply for literature programs, you are most of the time automatically considered for a PhD. Is it impossible to get any financial aid without GRE? I do not know. But in "non-profit" programs such as literature, not getting financial aid is equivalent to a polite rejection. Why does your friend not want to take the GRE? It does not matter how he scores, as not scoring well is not too bad for literature programs if he has good academic records. On the other hand, not taking it at all means that he will not be able to apply to lots of universities, as most of them require GRE scores. Therefore, he should take it. Really. jrcolmena
I strongly sugest that your friend takes the GRE, without it, the options for admission are minimal, and the possibility of finacial aid is almost none.
