bond
hi, U have a good Gre score(not xtra ordinary though). remember CMU is No.1 in CS.so that's difficult. Also G Tech,UT-Austin & UIUC r ranked TOP 10 so that's also difficult.Remember difficult doesn't meen that u'll not get slected. It's just that chances of acceptance r low.All the best. holeinone
CarnegieMellonUniversity (PA) (INI) / University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign University of Texas–Austin Georgia Institute of Technology University of Maryland–College Park University of Pennsylvania New YorkUniversity Virginia Tech OhioStateUniversity University of Colorado–Boulder North CarolinaStateUniversity StateUniversity of New York at Buffalo ArizonaStateUniversity All the above universities come in the top 50 mate... Since you a gre score of 1480 you have a good chance...at most but skip MIT .Also your AW is low.
jayesh
hey, i dint put MIT in th list... and yes..AWA is low..but does tht affect..even my toefl score is low
holeinone
No toefl is just a consideration...Most universities require just 250. And sorry I dint see MIT. Some univs do see your AWA.
Anand Iyer
Jayesh, dig into this forum - you will find profiles of people who got into top schools with mediocre GRE and TOEFL scores. At the end what matters is how you sell yourself. I would suggest you to aim high - of course keeping some safe options. But keep in mind that if aid is absolutely necessary for you, then you may have to reconsider your list.

After all, no one can predict what is in store because the admission process is so fickle. What the university looks for is how good you fit into their program. You might be able to do the masters with 25-27 lakhs, but keep in mind that almost all MS admits now come without aid. Best of luck!

Anand Iyer
Jayesh, you have to show the split up only when going for VISA interview. For that, you will have to show the amount printed on your I-20. For applying, it is enough if you get the financial affidavit form supplied by the university signed by the bank manager.
