hi,

U have a good Gre score(not xtra ordinary though).

remember CMU is No.1 in CS.so that's difficult.Also G Tech,UT-Austin & UIUC r ranked TOP 10 so that's also difficult.Remember difficult doesn't meen that u'll not get slected.It's just that chances of acceptance r low.All the best.

All the above universities come in the top 50 mate...

Since you a gre score of 1480 you have a good chance...at most but skip MIT .Also your AW is low.

Jayesh, dig into this forum - you will find profiles of people who got into top schools with mediocre GRE and TOEFL scores. At the end what matters is how you sell yourself. I would suggest you to aim high - of course keeping some safe options. But keep in mind that if aid is absolutely necessary for you, then you may have to reconsider your list.

OK, here is my view point of your list of universities:

Super Ambitious

University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign

University of Texas–Austin

Ambitious/Moderate

CMU - INI

University of Maryland–College Park

Georgia Institute of Technology

OhioStateUniversity

North CarolinaStateUniversity

University of Pennsylvania

ArizonaStateUniversity

Virginia Tech

Safe

New YorkUniversity

University of Colorado–Boulder

StateUniversity of New York at Buffalo

Having said that, try to get a good score in AGRE - that will definitely boost your chances of getting in at ambitious universities (I think GATech requires AGRE for CS). After all, no one can predict what is in store because the admission process is so fickle. What the university looks for is how good you fit into their program.

You might be able to do the masters with 25-27 lakhs, but keep in mind that almost all MS admits now come without aid.

Best of luck!

hey anand..thnx for the reply..

i am putting purdue, cornell,USC and umich too in th list...and removing one or two safe bets..in total am appying to 15-16 univs...

i hav good amount of extra acts and acads are also good enuf....i hav some seminar and workshop taking experiences..

i am applying for info sec only to CMU INI & gatech..and may be purdue..

now i am almost done with application work...ia m working on bank statmeent and assets summary statement..considering that umich and cmu are my most costliest univs..wht do u think tht about the assets required..

as in..how much cash,semi liquid...+ immovabl+fixed assets.?

what total figure ,if shown, will help me with clearing visa....(since i am low with some funds..i am borrowin money and all..so i need to know now itself)

thnx
