    In@U of Maryland :^)

    Hi folks,
Let me officially open the season of the Chemistry admits for Fall 2006.
My girlfriend just picked up mails - I was admitted at U of Maryland (College Park) for PhD program with full aid and tuition waiver

    I'm happy like a schoolboy

    Thanks
No, actually - it is the bottom choice - just kidding.
Well, it is the top school for Economics and Physics - for Chemistry it is ranked much lower (but, it has PhD alumni, who got Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1985), probably around top 40. However, it has several research groups that I would more than happy to join.
The other good thing about Maryland is its close location to the government agencies, which my facilitate in formation of good connections
And at the last - this is the school of Dana Scully.

The major criteria for me is to at the same school with my girlfriend - it is much more complicated task and the only choice-guiding factor.

    Bilash, Blase, thanks a lot

Btw, is there any people, familiar with this area around? I start checking prices there - is it possible to survive for 2 on 20-25k/year?

As far as I know, Maryland (CP, Baltimore, DC areas) are not as costly as NY or LA. So 2000 bucks should be more or less enough for 2. Again, I am not sure.
