a pleasant problem - Stanford vs. MIT

hi everyone,
i've been admitted to masters program in computational math @ both stanford and MIT. i don't know which one to take because, I really want to do my PhD eventually.

stanford gives me the option of transferring directly to the PhD program after my first year, if I pass the qualifying exam. MIT has no such arrangement though...

assuming the program @ MIT takes a year, I finish in Sep 07. that means I'll have to re-submit a PhD application (which isn't guaranteed to make it!) to start in Sep 08.. i don't want to waste a year doing nothing! (i'd rather be studying than working in a research lab)

Does anyone know how deadlines work @ MIT? are there rolling deadlines so people dont have the dilemma i'm facing now?

Obviously, the name MIT is a factor... plus i think the course is genuinely a little better then the one @ Stanford...

thanks everyone, any input is appreciated...
BS

If you take your MS from MIT, it is not guarnteed that you take your Ph form Stanford. However, it is somehow guaranteed if you you took your MS from Stanford.
