a pleasant problem - Stanford vs. MIT
hi everyone,
i've been admitted to masters program in computational math @ both stanford and MIT. i don't know which one to take because, I really want to do my PhD eventually. stanford gives me the option of transferring directly to the PhD program after my first year, if I pass the qualifying exam. MIT has no such arrangement though... assuming the program @ MIT takes a year, I finish in Sep 07. that means I'll have to re-submit a PhD application (which isn't guaranteed to make it!) to start in Sep 08.. i don't want to waste a year doing nothing! (i'd rather be studying than working in a research lab) Does anyone know how deadlines work @ MIT? are there rolling deadlines so people dont have the dilemma i'm facing now? Obviously, the name MIT is a factor... plus i think the course is genuinely a little better then the one @ Stanford... thanks everyone, any input is appreciated... BS |
