It is not a practice shoaib but depends on the university policy. Some univ give rejection rite away with no further considerations for MS admissions.
Others seem to have a soft spot for the PhD candidates and let u in the MS if u are up to their standard. |

NOPE
EVEN I GOT REJECTED BY Texas@Austin PhD-CS but when i mailed Grad Sec, she said that I HAD NOT INDICATED that i would conisder MS if denied a PhD. I don't remember such a field in their application.....and now when i requested her if she could add my file for MS processing, she said it was TOO LATE, as most MS decisions have been made and might be out by the month End I donot know how could i have said NO for MS. ![]() I suppose there was a column called 'Second major choice' may be this had the option for MS...i assumed it was sth other than CS>A.I perhaps my mistake. |

I remember seeeing that on the application. But, it's almost impossible to get financial support at UT anyway.
