I am happy for you,guys!I am still waiting from both UBC and Queen's.yesterday I heard from Simon Fraser,but as nobody mentions this school,I guess it is not from the top in Canada.I am still indicisive between Canada and USA.the reason is that I don't know whether I cant MA only or PhD afterwards.I heard if I wanna continue for PhD,it is nice to go to Canada,otherwise maybe USA is better?What would you advice me?Thanks and all the best luck

I am waiting for SFU too - PhD program. The grad secretary told me that I shouldn't expect to hear before late march/early april.

i applied for MA Econ @ SFU and have not heard back.. i wonder if the late march/april is only for PhD decisions? seeing as how the above poster got into the MA program

it seems that it is impossible to predict which university will call when.I have applied to Queen's in late November and to UBC in mid-January,but have not heard from them.at the same time,I sent my application to Simon Fraser on February 1st and they called me Monday.

I don't understand what is going on here.

well,I am from that shy girls who always want not to disturb the others.I don't feel comfortable calling and teasing the universities,but I guess most of the people do so

Edit: I just got an email from SFU (a generic one) that i've been admitted. i'm guessing they do MAs first before reviewing PhDs..

nevena: did they tell you anything about TAship/funding of any kind? mine just said to "please pay 100$ deposit if you are going to accept" or something like that.

i know SFU isn't as well known as UBC (esp. in this forum) but i was told by my profs it is still a very good school and i would love to get the hell out of Ontario...

i concur on getting out of Ontario!
After being in BC, i never want to go back!

I've been told that the rankings are as such for english speaking universities:
The Big 4: U of T, UBC, Queens, Western
followed by SFU and McMaster
Calgary is pretty up and coming, and extremely good for enviro/resource.
