Hi all,
I have been accepted by USC for MSCS-IR (intelligent robotics) program.
Could anyone please tell me what the financial aid scenario in USC is?

Thanks
Ruby

Hi Ruby,

Congrats for getting an admission in USC.USC is a great school,it has got a good rank also. However it's really an expensive school. You would be asked to show more than $32,000 of funds to get your I-20.Moreover once you get there you would have to give placement tests to register for some of the courses, which according to me is rediculous[bomb] because after spending so much money you cannot register for the courses of your choice.Well it all depends upon your perception how you view the placement tests since they allow only those pople to register for a particular course who have atleast the basic knowledege about the subject for which they are going to register. Moreover studying for the placement exams would prove helpful later during the course.
I had also been able to secure admission in USC for MSCS but did not go there because it is quite expensive. So right now I am doing my MSCS from Florida Institute of Technology which is quite affordable and I am working partime in the ECE department for which they pay me decently.
Regarding the financial aid scenario in USC,i believe it is quite difficult to get an aid as there are a large number of desis competing for various research assistant and other positions. So if you think that you are really smart and money is not a problem (in case you do not get any aid initially) I would suggest go for it.
I hope this would be of some help to you.

Congratulations Ruby! When did you apply to USC? When will you start if you accept the invitation? I applied to a Masters in Counseling program and I am supppose to receive a letter any day now. I am anxiously awaiting so that I can know what changes I will have to make.

Best of Luck,
Psyoutlaw

Hi Psyoutlaw,
I applied for Spring 2004. As their deadline was on Sept1, I applied in the end of August. Hopefully, I will join in Jan,2004.
Did you apply for Spring 2004? What do you have to change?
Good luck for your application
