Anybody get accepted to Harvard?
Hello all I am a new face around these forums and I was just wondering if anybody here has been accepted to or at least knows very well what it takes to be accepted to Harvard. I am a junior girl in high school and I badly want to go there.
Well I think as of now i have like a 25% chance of getting into the school. -4.33 cumulative (2nd in class) After this year my gpa will hopefully go up because of AP courses I am taking and rank will go to #1 <3 -many extracurriculars -35 on ACT -2180 on SAT Please give feedback whether you think I have a chance or not thank you in advance |

I recommend the following book, which I have read and is still one of the best books on the subject of undergrad Ivey admissions:
A Is for Admission: The Insider's Guide to Getting into the Ivy League and Other Top Colleges It is very eye opening. For example, it says the SAT Subject Tests (SAT II) can matter more than GPA. Another potential surprise is that the Ivies like to see work experience since it shows maturation. And, of course, being in a leadership position at high school club or other group is also helpful. Most of all, you need something that makes you stand out. This is referred to as the "hook."

Also, your chances improve of getting into an Ivey school if you apply to most of them
For most of the other Ivies, it also helps if you apply for "early decision" or "early action": Early action - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Early decision - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you were denied admission, my guess is that it would be just as well to reapply the following year since the Ivies don't mind a year off between high school and college if it is a fruitful experience. Some statistics from the author of "A is for Admission": Admission Statistics - Hernandez College Consulting BTW, for perspective: Who Needs Harvard? Harvard Schmarvard: Getting Beyond the Ivy League to the College That is Best for You And a new reason to consider Stanford: Stanford drops tuition for some students
