Rejection from MIT

Hi friends,

I got rejected from MIT ECE PhD program. I received their rejection notification yesterday by mail [V].

I have secured admissions in Drexel, WPI, Clarkson and Umaine. While Clarkson has offered partial aid, WPI may offer a TA and the others are still making their decisions.

You have a whole bunch of options, since you earned the opportunity to attend Drexel, WPI, Clarkson and Maine. So you have a lot going for you!

I really hope you enjoy getting to go to graduate school. It's a rare blessing--very few people will ever get to attend graduate school, let alone with financial aid. If you continue to apply yourself, you'll do great.

I heard from them on Feb 6th. My profile is as follows
GRE - 800(Q), 570(V), 5.5(AWA)
TOEFL - 277
Grad GPA - 3.9/4.0
UG GPA - 4.2/5.0
Applied for PhD in EE
2.5 years of software and hardware experience
2 years of TA experience in US grad school
>3 years of research experience
3 publications in international conferences
3 publications yet to be selected
area of specialization - Signal processing, Intelligent systems

I hope you will hear soon from UMaine, if you want you can contact with the graduate school, they are very helpful and friendly. I have received only the decision of admission so far, but have no idea about financial aid. I wish you all the best, let me know if you need any further info.

I know Umaine is not highly ranked..but I think if I get a good aid package, it'll be worth it..anyways, which part of India are you from? Which school did you go to in the U.S?

It's true, that as long as you are funded it doesnt really matter where you are... since according to me its not possible to pay for your own tuition ...
I am from Calcutta, WB, where are you from?
I am doing my MS in EE at DU and I will be graduating in the coming spring quarter.
