Yes, TestMagic has another one!

GMAX Online has contacted TestMagic and is offering us free on-line GMAT course in exchange for an honest and fair review of their course. I think this is something that will work out well in the TestMagic community, and could benefit all parties concerned.

This is what GMAX and TestMagic can offer:

Completely free access to the GMAX website and GMAX course--you will take the same course offered to GMAT test-takers all over the world. Please see the GMAX website for complete information. The current price for this on-line course is US $299.

What TestMagic and GMAX need from you:

You will need to have two books already--the Official Guide for GMAT Review and one of the Barron's GMAT books. Please see the GMAX site for full details.

The selected TestMagic member would work through the entire course, using all the materials contained therein. S/he would write at least (but perhaps more) five reports of the material (of at least 500 words each) while s/he was using the course.

I would like to see:

1. A review of initial impressions, covering such things as effectiveness, ease of use, presentation, etc.
2. A review of the math section. Please be sure to address whether it covers the tough GMAT math topics and problems, such as permutations and combinations, and tricky word problems.
3. A review of the verbal section--does it explain things in a way you can understand? Does it tell you something you didn't know or you wouldn't have been able to figure out yourself?
4. A conclusion--your overall thoughts of the book.
5. Your thoughts of this material compared with all the other materials you may have used.

Finally--I will choose someone who is earnest, who will help out her fellow TM'ers and who has demonstrated her ability to speak rationally and maturely.

I've received a couple questions about GMAX. I will refer them to this thread, but until then, here is what I assume are the answers:

• Why do I have to buy Barron's material and not some other material?
  • I assume they have a program built around the Barron's book.
• Are they related to Barron's?
  • I assume they are not.
• I visited their website, but didn't see any mention of this offer. How can I participate?
  • You need to be chosen by TestMagic to write this review.

Update:

Just to let everybody know that I hope to make a decision within in the next week or so. Approximately ten people have expressed serious interest, one of whom has already written some very good reviews for me.

If you have any questions, please ask them soon. For general questions, please ask them here, as I'm sure others would benefit from the information. For more private matters, such as qualifications or samples, a PM would be more appropriate.

Just to let you know that I have chosen a reviewer, and she has accepted the assignment.

I had several serious offers, but the person I chose has done a few reviews for me already and has demonstrated not just a great interest in the project, but also a good work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
