From the announcement about starred threads:

Click and your thread will stay at the top of the forum until you unstar the thread. Hope you enjoy this new feature.

A lot of people have asked for a way to keep their favorite threads at the top of a forum, and I think this way will work really well.

( especially, the " who's online" button shift & " star your thread" inclusion.)

Yes, It surely is an excellent feature.
As an added on feature of customization,
this will help us keeping personal "sticky" threads.
I used to bokmark the threads which i needed.

It surely is good for forums also, as it will reduce the number of search queries that are performed on forums,at a particular time to search a particular thread ,we regularly need.

by simply clcking again on the thread tools & then un-starring it.
