Hi Erin, If we posted questions from Powerprep or any GRE books that we own because we do not understand the concepts and such and we need help, are we then violating copyright laws?

I don't know the answer to that question. I would imagine that if it really came down to it, it would depend on how much of the question you posted. I actually asked that question of a GMAC lawyer, but did not receive a reply.

I just read an article about Scoretop, I could see why Erin wants to be careful. Having said that TM is not like Scoretop where, we try to bring in paid members to do illegal things.

hey Erin!

u have no idea how much this thread is important to all users in this forum.

to be honest, i've never thought that ETS were serious about keeping the confidentiality of the questions appeared in the test and all that about copyright violating issue. i thought that they were kidding.

i was about to send a word that appeared in my actual GRE test in the antonym section and which i was unable to answer on the test day.

at the last moment i decided not to post it but i really wanted to help other test takers.

thank God i didn't post it

and guess what my username is the same as my e-mail address.

hope that all users of Test Magic Forum pay attention to this thread and obey the rules of not violating the copyrights.

According to the complaint, one of the benefits of VIP membership marketed on the scoretop site was access to question sets dubbed “JJs.” JJ is an acronym for “jungle juice” or jijings.” Along with MJJs (math questions) and VJJs (verbal questions) these question sets are “actual GMAT questions that have been recontructed and reproduced on the Scoretop website.

There's an article in today's NYT about this issue. People who posted GMAT questions are facing serious consequences: "The council said an investigation of 6,000 scores from 2004 to 2007 found that 12 people posted questions from the exam on Scoretop. Those people will be barred from retaking the test for at least three years."
