Hey guys! I know many of you will not have even noticed, but I want to tell you guys anyway.
Last week the hard drive on my main computer failed, leaving me with no Internet access at TestMagic and causing me to lose valuable work and data since my last back up. I've spent the last few days trying to fix the old hard drive (and failing), installing a new one (it was also bad), buying a second one to install (this one's working!), and now, reinstalling all the software. I am trying to get caught up with my work and hope to be able to get back online at TM today (keeping my fingers crossed!! it's DSL, and is still buggy). I've been able to make do by using various other connections, but my normal operation isn't as efficient as it normally is. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know that the relatively slow speed with which I am responding is due to a computer problem at work. I keep seeing so many great posts that I want to respond to, but can't. Everything should be back to normal in a couple of days. In the meantime, keep studying and doing well!! You guys are helping each other a lot, which makes me very happy!!!! There are a lot of smart people here!! Erin TestMagic help you before your test? Please remember to post after your test. Please? Hi Arti!! Long time no see!! And thanks for the kind words.
I don't mind telling you guys about the DSL problems I've been having, as it's interesting to compare. Right now, neither my DSL at work nor my DSL at home is working, and I've been trying to get them to work for a while now. At work, I have SBC (Pacific Bell) DSL; at home I have DirecTV DSL. Although I'm having problems with both, the level of support and customer service with DirecTV is far superior to that of Pacific Bell. I called Pac Bell five times yesterday and got five different answers. The last person told me the problem was with Microsoft, and I'd have to contact them. I said, "Are you serious??? You know what they're going to say--contact your DSL provider, your computer manufacturer, or pay us $75 (or whatever) to solve your problem." Anyway, this went on for a while, and I finally gave up. Really, when you get somebody on the phone who acts like this, you should just hang up and keep calling back until you get somebody who actually wants to help you. Just wanted to warn anybody who's in the States and is considering getting DSL... Thanks for your patience, Arti and everybody!!! Erin TestMagic help you before your test? Hi Erin
Ya....i am not active on Testmagic these days. Actually i just joined my new job. Its a start up, so the job is pretty taxing and when i come back at 9 in the night, i really don't have the stamina to stare at the monitor most of the times. Apart from that i need to spend time with family as well. so..i hv been away from posting. but i do read most of them :-) hey! good that you have talked clearly about the DSL connection. I am sure it'll help a lot of people. Infact my brother in California also gets this problem frequently. His provider is SBC Global i guess. Anyways, take care Regards Arti Gupta |
