In high school, we learn about computers and how to make programs. So what is the name of that subject: Informatics (the way we often use but as far as I know, it is not common in the US), Computing or IT?

Hi Cinderella,
Sorry for the late reply. Well, to be honest, when I lived in Brazil and heard people translating "informatica" as "informatics," I thought they were wrong, but I've come to find out that at least my alma mater, George Mason, uses the term informatics, so it would seem that the name used by each university could be different. Different schools choose different names for a very funny reason--each school is trying to choose the very best name, and of course, everybody's different. Thus the different names. |
