Hey,
I just received an email from one of the Colleges that I am applying, and the Admissions officer touched on my age. Do you think that my age of 22 (I graduated form High School 3 years ago) is a bad thing? Do you all think that it will decrease my chances of admission as a College Freshman? Looking forward to your comments. |

No, I would be very suprised if one would be subjected to different criteria based on their age.
The only things they may ask is: "What have you been doing during the time between high school and college?" Answer truthfully - it could actually be beneficial to you, most especially if you have anything special that most highschoolers won't have. There are plenty of people who decide in their early-twenties to go to college - even very prestigious universities (UC Berkeley) have their own fare share of people who decided to enter the college realm. Don't be frightened, pour your heart and soul into your application; the rest is left to fate. ![]() Good Luck!

age is not an issue
I work in the undergraduate office of my institution and it is totally illegal to base admissions on ones age. If you meet the schools criteria, they can not base it on your age. Some schools do have quotas on nationalities and race but that is very rare.
I am very curious which school asked about your age. I noticed someone posted it might be in regards to your whereabouts for the past 3 years. Reasoning behind this is: you may have flunked out (failed) at a previous institution-so students hide the fact they had attended a previous institution. I have seen it all!
