application essays

Essay Topic

Topic C (all applicants):

What additional personal information do you wish to be considered in our decision? For example:
  • Exceptional hardship, temporary failure, or personal experience that has shaped your abilities or academic credentials
  • Personal responsibilities
  • Exceptional achievements or special talents such as poetry, artwork, bilingual proficiency, etc.
  • Educational goals and choice of major
  • Ways you have associated with the university.

I'm just wondering if I have to write an essay on each topic separately or just blend all these above mentioned points into one. I have to submit my essays online and there is a template given at my univ official site where i can type them. The thing is that there is no info mentioned regarding my above curiosity. All it is mentioned that you essay(s) should not be more than 120 lines. And write the topic name first and then type it.

what's your take? i'm thinkng i have to write separately on each topic. Pls hurry up for answering my query as i have to write them as soon as possible.

dear asad100

I think this is the last additional essay topic so the goal of it is to give you the last chance to tell the adms about yourself as a person. So I think the best way is choosing one aspect which you feel like it the best and write euthusiasticly; otherwise you miss the chance to back up your app and make you stand out. Furthermore, as far as I see, the seperate aspects included in the topic are fairly distintive and require different anedocts and writing. So if you blend every thing in a essay , it will be vague and make the reader wonder what you want to say in this essay.

For me, the second and the last facet seem to be interesting because the remain are all covered in your list of extracurriclum act and School report, right.

BTW, what school are you applying for, dude^^

hi there,
I have just looked through your school's site. Seemingly, your school has a special involve in International students so it may be beneficial. As I said, this essay is an additional chance for you to tell the adms "the real YOU". So the best advice is BE Urself and Be confident.

Be yourself means tell something you feel passionate. If you choose topic 1, for example, yet haven't know what to write about, sit down and recall or list on a piece of paper your most unforgetable experiences, which give you the most emotion. I think to make your essay outstanding, why not considering telling something about your country culture that influence you. An adms from Bates said that he had learnt much just from reading Students' essays, so why don't woo your adms about your distintive and beautiful culture... ( OK ^^ it's just an idea, there's alot more to think of)

The second but the most crucial one, BE confident! The most important thing when you tell about your future is to be confident on it. You are not wimpy! A wimpy person will not choose to learn in a foreign country, facing many challenges. You are a brave and special one! OK remembering that will convince the adms because they find a strong student in you ^^ That's all you need.

Good luck dude!

btw, my Email is : salme1988@yahoo.com
I am very pleasure if I can give you some helpfull comments ^^

Hey guys, know any good websites for college admission essay examples? I'm trying to locate some to get a gist of what the schools are looking for.

There are definitely a couple of books you may look up at your local library/borders. I wouldn't exactly recommend looking at ANY admission essays even if you choose to use them as "examples". These example essays tend to draw away an individual's creative and originality once you start writing and use them as "examples". Just try to outline what you wanna say and piece it together in a coherent, logical, yet entertaining way. hope that was helpful!
