Hi, I'm new to the forum, and I'm desesperate. I would like to hear your opinion on the following issue:

I applied for Stanford yesterday Monday the 15th, I submitted the first half of the application on time, and the other one at 10:30 Pacific time. A message appeared saying that I was all done, however, when I checked their site, they were using the E.S.T. time, which means that for them I submitted the application at 1:30 am of the 16th.

Will they disregard my application? Again, I had paid and submitted the first half on time.

I will really appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.

The deadline is the 16th, so why are you worried?

Reading your response gave me hope for a minute, but I just checked again, the deadline was the 15th. If you saw anywhere else that it was the 16th, I would greatly appreciate if I can see the source.

Now, if the deadline was the 15th, and I submitted it a couple minutes after the deadline, do you think it would get disregarded?

Hi there,

I got your email, and I understand your concern. I can't say for sure, but I will try to find out for you. I've had a couple other students submit a few minutes after the deadline and it seemed like they made it, but again, I couldn't say for sure.

I'll try to give Stanford a call to find out. I've talked to them many times in the past, and they've always been exceptionally helpful.

Great news!!

I just got off the phone with the admissions department at Stanford, and they told me TWO really good bits of information. First, they use PST, even if the website said EST. (This could be because the application software is located elsewhere, but I'm not sure about that.) So, your application should have made it. Second, I was told that Stanford continued to accept applications until 6 a.m. PST, even though the deadline was midnight. I'm guessing that they do this because they know things happen--bad Internet connections, slow servers, etc.

So, you can rest easy!!

Please let us know when you get your result.
